A New Race. A New Tradition.

A long history. A new identity.
From the Manayunk Wall to the last USPRO title awarded here in 2005, Philadelphia is featured prominently in the history of cycling in the United States. The goal of Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic is to bring renewed energy, fresh ideas and passionate leadership to start a new tradition and establish a new identity for Philadelphia in pro cycling.

This is our neighborhood. This is our race.
Outside of the Grand Tours that span multiple days and cities, most traditional European cycling races are circuit races centered in small towns and villages creating a community festival feel. With a nod to cycling’s European roots, the Parx Philly Cycling Classic will showcase of Philadelphia’s great small towns connecting the communities of Manayunk, East Falls and Fairmount Park. Racing by doorsteps and along local roads, the race provides a shared experience of pride for residents and businesses. This is our neighborhood. This is our race.

Hard Race. Easy to Watch.
Designed from the road with the help of former pros and with the full support from community groups and elected officials, the course is technical enough for the top teams to circle on their calendar but one that was designed with the fans in mind. As a 12 mile circuit course, fans will see the peloton more often and have the opportunity to watch in various locations. No longer will the excitement of the Wall be detached from the thrill of the finish line… they will be one and the same. Fans will be able scream encouragement at cyclists as they agonize up the Wall to the finish line at the top.

Equal Pay for Equal Pain
For too long the women’s peloton has suffered on many of the same courses and climbs as their male counterparts only to be rewarded with a prize purse a fraction of the size. Once again in 2015 the Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic’s $62,000 in prizes will be split equally between the men’s and women’s fields. This also includes the highest King of the Mountain and Queen of the Mountain prize purse of any one day race in the United States at $5,000 each. Equal pay for equal pain.

New Race. New Tradition.
The Parx Philly Cycling Classic is not a replacement event. This event stands to serve as the next great chapter and the start of a brand new tradition of pro cycling in Philadelphia. Welcome to the Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic.
